PUBLIC HEARING

 

Notice is hereby given that the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors, the City Council of the City of Lexington and the City Council of the City of Buena Vista will hold a public hearing to consider adoption of a Concurrent Resolution Creating The Rockbridge Area Network Authority. 

 

The City Council of the City of Buena Vista at its meeting on September 3, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the Courtroom of the City of Buena Vista, VA 24416.

 

            The County of Rockbridge, the City of Lexington, and the City of Buena Vista will consider the creation of a regional authority, The Rockbridge Area Network Authority, to provide qualifying communications services as authorized by Article 5.1(Section 560484.7: 1 et seq.) of Chapter 15 of Title 56 of the Code of Virginia, (1950, as amended), and to provide such other services as provided by law and Chapter 54.1 of Title 15.2 of the Coe of Virginia (1950, as amended.) The initial purpose of the Authority will be to facilitate broadband deployment throughout the region for the benefit of economic growth and development of the localities and for the convenience and welfare of the citizens. The Authority Board will consist of 5 members: 1 representative from the County of Rockbridge, 1 representative from the City of Lexington, 1 representative from the City of Buena Vista, 1 representative from Washington & Lee University and 1 representative of the corporate/business management sector

 

            All interested citizens of Rockbridge County, the City of Lexington, or the City of Buena Vista are requested to be present at their respective public hearings to express their views on the proposed Resolution.

 

            Copies of the proposed Concurrent Resolutions are on file for public inspection – The office of the Buena Vista City Manager, 2039 Sycamore Avenue.

             

RECOGNITION/COMMUNICATION FROM VISITORS: Citizens who desire to speak on matters not listed on the agenda will be heard at this time.  Citizens who desire to speak on the agenda will be heard when the agenda item is considered.
