The Buena Vista Police Department began their Bike Patrol in the Spring of 1999.  This offers community policing in a non-restrictive environment.  This also allows our police the chance to teach bike safety to our youth and other bike enthusiasts, including the value of wearing a helmet and obeying the laws governing bicycle operation.
