Mentoring

Officers who demonstrate a skill or an interest in an organized extra curricular activity are permitted to assist in the coaching of that sport provided sufficient staffing is available to cover the shift.  We believe this makes the officers more approachable and builds a trust that carries on for a lifetime.  Our officers have assisted in coaching Peewee football, Track, High School Wrestling, and High School Baseball.

The Police Department “Mentor” program is proud to announce the accomplishments of this years wrestling team.  The year started off with a trip to Williamsburg and ended up with a 2nd place finish in the States.  This team pulled together like a family.  Each and every wrestler put his heart into making the team a success.  Yes, there were many individual triumphs such as; Gerelle’s undefeated showing in our quad to Mikes State Championship win, but the defining character of the team was how they supported one another.  These young men stood as one through the tuff times and together accomplished something that has been out of reach for more than twenty years.  I am proud of the effort that each wrestler put forth and it was a pleasure to work with each one of them.

Please enjoy the photos and support our youth by attending their events.
