The mission of the Buena Vista Police Department is to preserve peace and maintain order in our community.  To that end, we will hire and maintain a professional staff to investigate crimes and apprehend criminals while protecting the lives and property of our citizens.  Through education, mentoring, and community policing we will establish and maintain a partnership between the youth of our city and this department.  We will foster positive communication lines between all citizens and our staff.  We will remain approachable and professional at all times.  In fulfilling our mission, we will respect the rights and dignity of all.
