The
Special Response Team member is a motivated officer that becomes part of a team,
composed of the Buena Vista Police Department and the Buena Vista Sheriff's
Department. This team is trained to respond to "the out of the
ordinary calls" such as hostage situations, terrorist attacks, bomb
threats, barricades, and search warrants.
Special Response Team members are also trained in the art
of "man tracking." Officers have assisted in the tracking of escaped
inmates, and are capable of tracking for several days without exiting the woods.
This team is available to surrounding jurisdictions to assist in finding lost
children, hunters, or fleeing suspects.
