PUBLIC HEARINGS

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 15.2-2204 of the Code of Virginia and the City's Land Development Regulations (Regulations) that the Buena Vista City Council and the Planning Commission will be holding joint public hearings on October 4, 2007, starting at 5:00 PM or shortly thereafter to receive public comment on amending ARTICLE 17 – 1706.00 – Setbacks hearing two; a request from James Mikel Clements, Jr. to rezone property from R-3 to MB.

The Hearings will be held in the Council Chambers located within the Municipal Building, 2039 Sycamore Avenue.  Any questions regarding this matter should be directed to Robert Luke, Zoning Administrator/Planner, 261-3164.

All interested parties are urged to attend the public hearing at which time they will be given the opportunity to provide testimony regarding this matter. 

A copy of the proposed changes are on file in the City Manager's Office, 2039 Sycamore Avenue, and is available for review from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday. 

Sensory accommodations are available upon a 5 working day notice to the City Manager’s Office.

1706.00           Setbacks         New commercial buildings in this district along Beech Avenue are required to have a “0” lot line on Beech Avenue and are required to front onto Beech Ave.  On all other streets buildings may not set back any further than adjacent structures on contiguous lots.  That this “1706.00 - Setbacks” wording be eliminated from Article 17 – Mixed Business District

James Mikel Clements Jr. has asked that the property known as 18-1-5-20-1 & 2 be rezoned from Limited Residential District (R-3) to Mixed Business (MB) at the corner of 29^th Street and Rockbridge for the purpose of a metal building to be used as an office and maintenance.
